As I get older I fail to see why, when we are one of the highest taxed Countries in the EU, we never seem to have money for anything.
The money has to be going somewhere, and the question is only highlighted by the fact that European health systems seem to operate to much higher standards than ours, and Europeans seem to have both more disposable income, and better working conditions.
In the UK our working hours continue to rise and our working days lengthen through a managerial pressure that seems to be missing elsewhere. At the same time we seem to pay more and more tax but nothing ever seems to improve.
