What was your best day bashing?

Ah, the post New Year rush of 81/2/3/4/5s and Mk1s on reliefs - remember it well from my youth! Perhaps surpassed only by the Glasgow and Edinburgh 'Fair' traffic which created so many extras at the weekends. The 'Fairs' were the two week standard holiday periods common in many industrial places and from memory the Edinburgh one ended as Glasgow's started so there was one hell of a big weekend in between. Just how many trains could Blackpool take?!

I'm very glad to hear it! I would agree that the NIR DEMUs offer the best bashing still available anywhere in the known world, especially on the 80 class where heads out is still possible. Everyone needs to enjoy while he can (this year basically), or forever live in in a state of regret!

I've been spotting for about 40 years and had some cracking trips here and there but funnily I had one of my best trips last year.decided to take my lad west ham for footy,went by train.saw a 20(my favourite all time loco) on a special at Leicester,copped my last 20(20905) at Wellingborough,copped my last 2 hst power cars at paddington(43139 and 43192) got my 319s down to 1 needed and logged no end of units,all in all a very successful day out.oh yeah,hammers won 2!
