What to do in and around Lille

Bergues, north of Lille, makes for a a good day out if you have more time to spend. It is a small picturesque town on the Dunkerque line with ramparts to walk round. It became quite a tourist destination a few years ago as Bienvenue Chez les Ch'tis (a very popular film parodying life in northern France) was filmed there.

Lille Zoo is quite good fun though not exactly Chester.
