91110 is not the speed record holder for a UK domestic train carrying passengers. The 162mph record attained by 91010 occurred on a test run with a shortened, unladen, mark 4 rake.
No what I was trying to say is the reason why 91131 is joining the National Collection is because it was the last BR built electric. 58050 was the last diesel loco built by BR whilst 60100 was/still is the last British built loco.
91131 may well have attained the high speed run in passenger service but that's not the reason for its designation!
On another note, I wouldn't want to see a pacer in the NRM but it would be nice to see a 150, 153 and 158 in the national collection. 91131 should sit with a Mark 4 carriage and DVT. And I believe that the same thing should happen to 87001 with a Mk3 carriage and DVT. Also, when test coach Mentor is retired, surely it would be good in the Great Hall to show how the OHLE is tested

And maybe one day, they'll have 66001 (as the start of a dominant loco class) and 70001 (teaching the people of the future how not to build a loco
Thanks, Sam
