In trip reports, I look for individuality. We are not all totally into all the different Weatherspoons, best pubs, cheapest rides, delays, Train numbers, and times, or the wife etc etc etc., but put in the right context they can become interesting. In my trip reports, I like to do a bit of a reminisce if I haven't done a line in many years, or impressions if a line is new. On a journey however small, maybe a 2-3 mile journey, many things can come to mind and I sometimes think, I must include that in the report.
Each and every one of us has an individual style and some, including myself may be developing a style. I do feel sorry for those who seem to get no replies or acknowledgements from readers, especially first time reporters, there is nothing like a reply from a reader. Blindtraveller and Techniquest are really excellent reporters of trips on this site. My log of my "second UK trip this year" with over 1600 views gives me a lot of satisfaction and I hope the photo's I have tried to include are of interest. I love this site and especially this section on trip reports and the nostalgia reports.
LEJOG: I have to say that being born in Nancledra, 11 miles or so, as the crow flies from Lands End and being brought up in Lelant, that I have a fascination with LEJOG, and some times I want to do the journey. One is by public transport including rail from Lands End to Penzance and onto Thurso/Wick and JOG which is a bit lazy, but another is far more involved by starting at LE and calling at all BBC Local Radio studios in England, Scotland and Wales and using the rail and bus system of the nation to make the journey. Of course the journey is not a direct one, but I would make the journey under sponsorship for something that I really think deserve support such as Children in Need, Comic Relief, or RNLI.
In November 1985, I walked from St Erth Station along the A30 to Penzance Station with many people along with Ian Botham. The speed he walked at was furious. At times I was running to keep up. That's how fit you have to be. I wish you the very best in your attempt to complete the LEJOG or the JOGLE!
