Weird experience at Paddington gateline

It says a lot about the quality of the staff, if they needed a supervisor to consult about an apparently valid ticket from a station with direct trains.

Doesn't show much respect for passengers if such a (not) wayside station as Paddington doesn't justify having gates properly programmed to accept tickets from stations directly served either.

I've just checked on BR Fares and that is indeed the case. However, I've just checked the photo of the ticket that gave rise to this incident, and it is "valid via any permitted route".
Ah, that rules that one out then!

I don’t think it’s necessarily the quality of the staff rather the ticket training that they are given!
