I have done a post before about reopening Branston and Heighington railway station, but this may not serve the northernmost tip of Washingborough. I had another idea that might work (although more expensive), which can either be an addition or alternative.
As shown on the map, a junction would be required with the existing line between Lincoln and Sleaford and uses the old connector between the two lines.
A bridge is probably required over the access road for the new Eastern Bypass, though, but other than that, the trackbed is completely clear and even the bridge over the Dike is intact.
The line would have to be single-track and separated from the footpath (to be retained). Although the platforms at the old site are intact, the line would end at a small, basic, 1-platform station just before it.
Service would most suitably be an extension of the Newark (EMR) or Leeds (Northern) service, which wouldn't have to be stabled at Lincoln and take up space there.
There would be usage of the station, because the Branston and Heighington idea was very popular locally.
Thoughts, anyone?
Note: The map isn't perfectly drawn, but you can see where the trackbed is.
