Was the he right?

I'm doing a first class ALR on the 8th August (only 10 days ) and when I went to book a sleeper from Edinburgh to London a few weeks ago we went at around 5pm and the ticket office clerk said SR sleeper reservations for the berth 2 berth supplements was closed so he would do it tomorrow and we would collect the tickets. When tomorrow came he said that we should be able to get first class on the sleeper for free (two single berths) when I was prepared to pay £60 for a standard sharing berth supplement. Was he right to do this? Not that it matters now, I have an extra £60 than planned!

From National Rail

The All Line Rail Rover ticket allows unlimited travel on most National Rail services at any time for 7 consecutive days.

It does not include the charge for seat reservations, where payable.

It is valid for travel on the Caledonian Sleeper seater coach (reservations compulsory) or in a berth with payment of the appropriate supplement.

It is also valid on the Ffestiniog Railway.

The all lines rover is NOT valid for travel on Eurostar, Heathrow Express, TfL Underground, Docklands Light Railway and Croydon Tramlink, private railways (except Ffestiniog Railway) or on any shipping service.

Additionally it is also not available for travel on Heathrow Connect services between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow
