I'm not voting in any category. While it worked well on my 17" screen at home, the text was a little too small to read comfortably. On my 15" screen at work, the text on text-only pages was definitely too small to read comfortably. If I increase the view size, I need to do too much left-right scrolling.
Otherwise, I think this was a great effort! Keep up the good work!
Over the years, the newspaper industry has carried out considerable research into readability. Web designers (and e-publishers!) could learn a thing or two from it, too. For example, readability is significantly improved on a printed page at point sizes above 10 - now, if Acrobat is going to scale the pages, you might want to consider using larger point sizes. Also, readability is improved when columns are justified, rather than ranged left, and when the column width is neither too little or too much (because both cause the eye muscles to work hard) - take into account point size, and you may wish to rethink text page layout.
Also, readers find variation makes a publication easier to take in - in your case, I would move text-heavy "news" pages earlier, then break up the rest by, say, alternating picture-heavy features and text-heavy features.
But as I say, it's a great publication!
