Yes, but the refurbished HSTs have them anyway, I know the GC ones have them as do the NXEC ones, can't comment on the FGW, EMT or AXC ones though.

Yep, GC and NXEC ones have sockets for mobile and laptop use only(!!!) Seen someone with some hair straighteners plugged in once!

It's only the FRONT end of the Power Cars which have buffers... All HST Trailers are bufferless. So the argument of using the drophead buckeye goes out of the window. Also, the HSTs have Electric Train Supply, where as the LHCS Mk3s have Electric Train Heat, which is why they don't have sockets!

I know the FGW refurbs have plug sockets at both table seats and airline style seats. I'm pretty sure the XC HSTs have the same sort of setup as well.

No. The powercars were modified to run as a DVT, and they were running with mk3s.
You could take the leading vehicle off a turbostar, modify the coupling and attach a loco, but the turbostar is still a DMU.

But you wouldn't be using the DMU engines.... so would it or would they just be coaching stock with tghe ability to be powered, but which was not?

On a Pendo I saw a man plug in amicrowave with his lunch in. Thankfully before he turned it on, a guard / ticket person arrived and explained clearly 'NO' claiming that it would trip the circuit breakers and bring the train to a halt.

Yes. I know they XC ones do as I seen them today. The XC refurbishments are top notch and they look new inside! The only problem I find with the modernised MK3 coaches (XC etc) is that there are no passenger displays systems and the corridor connections are always squeaking which is VERY annoying.
EMT need to get their MK3 coaches up to the standard of the XC ones, then I'd be happy!

Also a question: Why are the scrolling reservation systems on the XC HSTs still not working? Are they going to use them are not!?!

No they aren't going to use them because they are hopeless and cause congestion in the coach.
