Hi Guys,

Last night I bought 2 tickets to London Euston for travel on saturday from Liverpool Lime Street, I put my girlfriends name on the online form as being the second passenger. I paid for the tickets and got my confirmation email but my girlfriend was not listed in the confirmation email and I expected that she would be listed on one of the e-tickets that were delivered to my email address about 2 hours after purchase.

However, she isn't listed on any of the tickets. All of the tickets have myself listed as the passenger, will she still be able to travel on one of the tickets? I have read the somewhat sketchy advice available on the virgin website that states on some tickets the person who bought the tickets will be named as the passenger. This doesn't really clarify the situation for me.

I wondered if anybody knew anything about this, any help would be appreciated.

Don't worry, these e-tickets only list the person who paid for them, it's normal.

Thanks for the reply Yorkie, trying to get answers out of train companies is near impossible sometimes.

Once again thanks.

Just make sure you have the card used to make the booking with you and you'll be absolutely fine. There'll be two separate tickets with different numbers on them, just in your name - that's not a problem at all.

This is the umpteenth time someone has asked this question! Virgin should sort it out - all they need is a little explanatory sentence, or just change "passenger name" to "booking person" or somesuch.

Thanks guys, I have put my card in a document wallet with the tickets just to make sure it's not forgotten.

I do agree they should change the wording of the tickets, that would be common sense which in my opinion is lacking with train companies sometimes.

It's not a Virgin thing as such, it's Mobitix (run by the dreaded trainline!). Mobitix isn't really very well thought out. It's hardly surprising it has failed to take off.

I've had the same on Grand Central, so it's not just Virgin, although anyone buying GC tickets on Mobitix for West Yorks is being thoroughly ripped off, paying £33 for a single when you can buy a fully flexible return on board for £25. In fact the only ticket worth getting on GC is the early morning train from London. With Virgin, the prices are sensible though so it has its uses.

Does that leave (incompetent) GC as the only user of this awful service? If so, I think it may as well close down now!

GC are so useless that they are (and not for the first time) selling mobitix singles at £52 on bank holidays on April, despite the fact that all trains will be designated as off peak on these days therefore the on-board fare will be lower than the Mobitix fare. I think the person responsible for GC ticketing is totally incompetent. And the people responsible for Mobitix are also pretty lousy. I actually pointed this out when GC were doing this 2 years ago, but obviously they are incompetent.

Good riddance Mobitix, you won't be missed!

I think the OP in this case has a print at home E-Ticket, which is a different thing all together. They will have received an email with the ticket attached which they print off - that is the impression I get from the OP.

Ah yes I think you're right; I was forgetting e-tickets are an option in the "normal" thetrainline site. I guess that explains why they are abandoning Mobitix.
