Yeah yeah I know. The Victoria line's at capacity and all that.
But imagine. One more stop at each end. How many people getting on at Walthamstow and Brixton are only doing so because they have had to bus or even train in from an underserved area?
Just to the SE of Walthamstow lies Whipps Cross - a railless suburb about halfway between the Victoria and Central lines. It has a hospital which people will wish to get to not only for their own treatment but to visit loved ones staying in there.
Then there's the idea Boris was prepared to sanction (in the days before he got the top job and disgraced himself) of a one stop southward extension to Herne Hill where a number of National Rail routes intersect.
We all know Brixton tube doesn't have a very close interchange with the main line. How many who board there have already had to change at Herne Hill?
If only one thing can be done to the Victoria line short of CR2 finally getting the go ahead to take some pressure off then surely extending at either end to create a Whipps Cross-Herne Hill route would be one of the least harmful options.
