All ferral Youths need to be executed (they wouldn't do it again and it would definately put the others off). I know i'm saying it tongue in cheek but in all honesty there needs to be a harder line taken with these youths and their parents to stop these incidents occuring. I have a horrible feeling that it will take an incident where someone is killed or a train is de-railed before anyone else takes this seriously.

Shocking state of Britian today. :(

****ing disgraceful. Doesnt bear thinking about if that went through the cab window... How come they werent fried if they threw some wiggly tin off the bridge? Or was it a voyager on a non-electrified line?

Even with this, people still say the South is worse. Yeah. Right.

So the same Pendo was hit twice? Would that mean another set down?

yesterday when we ran our diesel servicesat the GCR(N), we had a total of 17 (yes- SEVENTEEN!!) trespassers over the course of the day, with a line of ballast laid on a rail at Loughborough Junction, 3 kids messing about at Barnstone tunnel, loads more people in general on the line, 2 people walking their dog along the line, and refused to move off the line when told to, and worst was one of about 7 youths on top of 50 steps bridge when we were reversing back in to Ruddington, where he climbed over the side of the footbridge on to the roof of the train. Immediately I shouted at him to get off the line or you risk me calling the fuzz to come down, or he's welcome to stay on there and get his head ripped off at the next bridge if he likes. I got told to f*** off, and if they stayed there I would have taken action, but they moved on.
Our sister railway, the GCR is suffering similar problems, most recently a massive hole was punched in the side of a signalbox (which would ahve taken LOADS of effort to achieve nothing), and newly repainted 4CIG being graffitied. There are reminders too. In the mk2Fs you find the odd little piece of broken glass occasionally.

Have some people really got nothing better to do with their time than vandalise trains and endanger lives?

Perhaps we could drop that slab on them from a great height and see how they like it!

I live in Lancaster, and know the Ashton Rd bridge well. The railway line is the WCML and the bridge is quite high off the OLE level, it is a busy main road with housing and a school all within 100yds of the bridge, both on Ashton Rd and surrounding residential areas that are alongside the railway. How these half-wits got away with lugging a concrete slab along a busy road and with plenty of people around is beyond me! The area concerned isnt one of the 'usual' trouble spots in the city. I hope the BTP catch them before they do it again and manage cause injury or death - they should be locked up to attempted murder!

Like I said, lets go for Guardia Civil policing styles and there would be a lot less crime...!

Even the Policia Local are evil, although the Guardia Civil or Protecion National would be a lot better, they'd have gone and picked up the concrete slab then droped their face into it, after holding them up against the wall by a trunchon, or the butt of their machine gun!

What's that one all about then? Unless this has happened very recently (i.e. in the last week!), and has been kept very quiet indeed - then I certainly missed that one. I've worked all three boxes in the last nine days, and they certainly appeared to be very much structurally complete!

Oh, and the GCR(N) doesn't run to Loughborough Junction, by any stretch of the imagination. That's maybe a little *too* far to aim your ambitions ;).

maybe it wasn't a signal box - it was some sort of structure. it's in Main Line magazine

eerm - we DO run to Loughborough on diesel days - we terminate just south of Brush works, adjacent to the A60

Leicester North station? That's certainly believable - they won't stay away!

I still maintain that Loughborough Junction is a step too far, being slightly south of the Thames ;).

I am a youth, but I just don't know why people would do that?

My friends have trespassed on a country line before, and I have urged to them to stop, luckily they have, and it was on a line used once a day (the Meldon freight line). They did it a handful of times, but then I think I freaked them out with stories about people being hit by trains.

The point is; why? 10 year prison sentence, loss of rights and pay the damage costs should settle this, ahaha, I could of better things to do with £100k. If I was stupid enough to enjoy killing trains, I could buy one and kill it!

Hakzi.

What loss of rights? You only lose your freedom. Even then Even if you got 10years, out in 5, maybe less with good behaviour. First time offenders will just get a fine, paid at 3p a week.

^ And you can probably sue the prison because your cable TV reception isn't good enough.
