"Vandals on track between Peterborough throwing stones at train windows. Previous 3 services sustained broken windows. Held at stand until police cleared the way" - traindelays.co.uk

Daniel - [http://spyke.org.uk/gallery] says:
did you hear about that train in south east london where a bunch of yobs sprayed pepper spray or summat into it?! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7041575.stm

This is terrible! Has anyone else had any experiences with vandalism as bad as this on the railways?

I know that there's alot of vandalism going on, but surely most of it doesn't directly involve the passengers as much as these two incidents?

Who's responsibility is it to fight vandilism? What are they trying to do to stop it? Why are incidents such as this happening on our railways?

It's split between Network Rail, BTP and local Police forces, with assistance from the TOCs.
In our area, the Mobile Operations Manager is normally sent to investigate stone throwing, which is normally a waste of time. I keep saying they should let the pway have a go <D

Yes, let it be drilled into them that they shouldn't do it quite literally!

I don't see anything wrong with the un PC method used by thomas the tank engine resulting in the youths being covered in black soot.1
