I did Vancouver a couple of years ago.
We stayed near Richmond - the southern end of the "Canada" line on Skytrain.
The service was busy but we managed to get seats at the front watch it from the "driver(less) eye" view. I took video and picture and never had any trouble.
We purchased a day pass from the ticket machine at the station. It allowed unlimited travel on Skytrain and also the seabus to North Vancouver which was well worth a trip to see Vancouver from "over the water"
The Seabus terminal is near the main railway station but there wasn't much activity. A couple of trains were in the platforms but, from the look of them, they were probably there for a long stay.
