Tyne and Wear Day Rover

Am planning to buy this Tyne and Wear Day Rover through the Stagecoach app. I'm assuming it generates a barcode? In that case, how does it operate the T&W Metro ticket gates as I thought they were like ones on London Underground - i.e. paper tickets and card readers? If the same product is sold as a paper ticket from the T&W Metro TVMs I'll go for that instead, so again is that an option?

It's a one off trip so really don't want to mess about with any local smartcards .

You’ll have to use it as a flash pass to everyone including on Stagecoach buses, the QR code is useless in the North East.

But yes, this is also available as a paper ticket on Metro machines.

If using a Metro TVM - its listed under 'other tickets' on a separate screen.

Metro gates don't accept anything other than paper tickets issued at Metro TVMs or Pop cards (either smartcard or on NFC-enabled phones within the Pop app). Staff will be very familiar with the Tyne & Wear Day Rover in all formats.

Depends who you buy the ticket off. The QR code issued by Go and Arriva work on Go and Arriva as they have Ticketer machines.

You don’t need a smart card to buy it. You can buy it on the first bus (or ferry!) you board or at Metro TVMs.

NB it isn’t valid on Newcastle to Ashington railway line. Only the POP smart card is.

You'll get the odd driver who says we don't accept them without even looking at it! It really bugs me lol
