I Heard on the radio today, that it was 100 years ago in 1912 that the Trolley Bus first appeared. Is that true, I did not think they went back that far. ?

I think they also said that the last ones in the UK ran in the late 1960s or even early 1970s either in Bournemouth, Bradford or Rochdale, but there was alot of noise going on and I could not hear what was being said clearly.

I have been on them overseas, where they still exist in many places. I went on them in Switzerland, they are certainly clean and quiet, it seems a shame they could not come back here, I think it has been suggested, but so far I don't think it's happened. The nearest thing being the guided bus which I don't really see the point of.

A quick glance at Wiki suggests that trolleys first appeared in UK in 1911 in Leeds and Bradford. The last one in normal service in the UK was in 1972 also in Bradford.
