Trivia: Rarest multiple-digit bus route numbers

One would expect that route 13 would be skipped by many operators due to superstition...

There's a 13 in Liverpool which is Liverpool City Centre, Stockbridge Circular.
Leeds has a 13, & a 13A too Middleton to Brackenwood or Gledhow

I mind some of these Fife Scottish routes from Leven to St Andrews via Anstruther with mk1 Volvo Ailsas flying along the road.

Sadly the Ailsas were long gone by the 00s, however the 95 service via the coast still existed, as it does today.
The other routes at that time were
91: St.Andrews town service (Scooniehill)
92/93: St.Andrews town service (Bogward)
94: St.Andrews - Balmullo
96: St.Andrews - Dundee via Tayport
97/98: Madras school routes from Leven/Largoward area
99: St.Andrews - Dundee direct

The 91/92/93 town routes were eventually subsumed by the 99, leading to the 99A/99B then 99C and finally 99D variations.

Believe there's a bus route R13 (Operates SuX, BHX) in the GMPTE area (Between Rochdale and Wallbank).

I reckon there is less concern about the number '13' nowadays, so gaps may be historic more than anything else. For instance, services to Bexleyheath are a straight run B11 to B16 - there was clearly the opportunity to leave B13 out if that was preferred. W suffixes in London have gaps, but includes W13, similarly H suffixes with H13. There are just four P suffixes but P13 is one of them.

Not really. I’m sure there were several route 13s around, if they were dropped it was to do with the fact that they duplicated other routes and were dropped after rationalisation.

As mentioned previously 666 did appear in Blazefield’s 662–668 series that ran from Bradford–Keighley and beyond via Manningham, later changed to the 66 Keighley–Skipton.

Incidentally there's a 666 route over in northeast Poland....

it's used for the bus to Hel.

going off on a tangent somewhat, is it in China or somewhere that doesn't have a floor 13 in Hospitals? (Could be an urban myth)

Not 13, but 4. It sounds like Death in Mandarin so it's widely avoided for things like floor numbers, room numbers etc. Before I was aware of this I made a very large error by putting four candles on a birthday cake for my wife (there wasn't room for more...)
