Attempt one : "Calder-cruicks" (obviously wrong)

Attempt two: "Calder-cruee". (pseudo-French pronunciation, because "cruix" looks a bit French, presumably also wrong).

Attempt three: "Calder-crux".

Attempt four: "Throatwobbler Mangrove". ;)
Coll-der-crooks ;)

And nothing French in origin actually:

Calder from the river, cruix from 'cruiks' - meaning a bend in the river.

4 pages and no mention of Meols on the West Kirby line. Pronounced 'Mells.' TV announcers always get that wrong. Liverpool Central is in Ranelagh Street which is pronounced 'Ranlee.' Referencng an earlier post, there is a Claughton in Birkenhead. It is pronounced 'Claw-ton.' Straying away from railway stations completely, Buccleuch Street in Birkenhead is 'Buck-er-loo.' Sounds very satisfying in the local accent - think Paul O'Grady who used to live a mile way.

You can also hear Bew-ker-loo too the TfW and previous TOC station announcements on Borderlands refer to “HEZZwhorl” where is should be Hezzwull (English pronounced) or Hesswal (Welsh pronounced) so they don’t get that right at all

... And I may have missed it, but has no-one mentioned Lemner? Politer version is Lemster, and TfW shows it as Llanllieni.

Not a mispronunciation but a delightful misspelling I saw as a result of the difference between appearance and pronunciation was the presentation of Leominster on the now defunct telly Ceefax railway page as 'Lempster'. I assume that the information had been given to the Ceefax editor over the telephone.
