Trivia: Highest capacity Intercity Train

With Lumo operating a 10 car service between Edinburgh and Peterborough today which would total 800 seats in their high density 803s has there previously been any Intercity services operated with a higher capacity?

I am sure that the WW2 trains loading 16 coaches - and often more - might have had many more than this, maybe well over 1000 - andthat's just the seats!
(London to Edinburgh or Glasgow certainly count as "Inter-City" in my mind.)

Think that beats an 11 car Class 390/1 Pendolino, which I believe only has maybe 600 seats.

Question: Does a 12 car Class 700 type Thameslink train running from, say, Brighton to London, count as "InterCity"? And, if it does, do the 1,000+ capacity statistics for them usually include "standees", however?

Why are Lumo running a 10 car today?

With the route shut south of Peterborough (St Neots to be more accurate) loadings will be way below normal. A trail run for future 10 car operation* or some other reason?

* their busiest service is the weekdays 1045 Kings Cross to Edinburgh. Not sure you could strengthen it without extra stock or risking 100% availability of the 803s.

Not really.

700 capacity usually does include standees, I'm fairly sure.

Tiger Worldline shows that Lumo return back to Edinburgh as a 5 car at Newcastle, however it also says 'Front LKJHG + EDBCA Rear Lumo' Which suggests it's actually a 10 car.

Strange because when I first saw this I thought it was a RTT allocation error.

They must have freed up 803s today cause of the eng work.

I saw it yesterday morning while I walking between East Linton and Dunbar and I was wondering if this a first or not and what the reason for this was e.g. just to do with the engineering works in Hertfordshire with the trains terminating at Peterborough?

I believe 10-car running happened at Lumo because of it being 200 years since railway services began or began from Newcastle.
