Trivia: Areas without single or multi operator tickets

Cheshire has no multi operator ticket. In addition Arriva in Macclesfield, Crewe, Winsford and Northwich have no town specific tickets (only the North West/North West and Wales tickets)

Lincoln has Stagecoach and PC Coaches, but I don't think there's a ticket that available for both operators.

Also, Skegness has Stagecoach and Red Buses, but again, as far as I know, no multi operator tickets available.

You make a good point that Plusbus tickets are available as multi operator tickets in (usually) a town or city area in conjunction with a rail journey. However, they are not available for passengers not involving a rail journey, nor available for travel across huge swathes of countryside by bus.

I think it would be easier to state where there are multi operator tickets, rather than where there aren't!

Arriva do have an area ticket for Crewe, but only operate 1 local route and a few interurban routes serving the town; other services are operated by D&G.

North Yorkshire doesn't have a multi-operator ticket; technically, Explorer NE is valid on services around Richmond and Whitby but whilst it is valid on some operators, it's only Arriva NE on which it's valid there. Explorer NE is valid on Go Ahead, Arriva and Stagecoach as well as Travelsure (plus some trains, Shields Ferry and Metro) and that covers most of Northumberland and Teesside buses. However, the retrenchment of Arriva in Co Durham means there are substantial tracts of territory that are mainly Scarlet Band or Weardale on which it isn't valid.

In the South West, Dorset doesn't have a multi-operator ticket and neither does Somerset. Gloucestershire doesn't any more though it truly never did. The Cotswold Explorer was valid on certain Stagecoach and Johnsons services as well as Swanbrook and Pulhams but those latter two have now pulled out. Herefordshire doesn't have a one though woeful Worcestershire does.

Warwickshire has no countywide multi-operator ticket. I'm a bit surprised that Johnsons, which is enterprising in many ways, doesn't have a day ticket for its extensive network. A day ticket valid on Johnsons and Stagecoach would be popular with the more adventurous kind of tourist staying in Stratford-on-Avon and wanting to explore the area.

Hull has the £14.90 weekly 'Hull Card' ticket and £5 day ticket equivalent, both valid on Stagecoach and East Yorkshire buses in Hull, Cottingham, Hessle, Anlaby and Willerby.

Nottinghamshire doesn’t have a multi operator ticket. Trent Barton run the majority of services in the south of the county and Stagecoach in the north. It’s the overlap area in the centre that around Mansfield where it’s difficult where there are a mixture of Trent Barton and Stagecoach routes. Journeys of just a few miles where to complete the journey travel is on both companies buses can be very expensive. Nottingham City does have a multi operator ticket but it is only valid within the Greater Nottingham area.

Fair point - I was thinking more of East Riding but you’re right to point out Hull Card
