Trip to London

I am hoping to take my Grandmother to London this week, so far I am thinking of taking her to Richmond & then to Little Venice.
Has anyone else got any suggestions?

Well there is a nice cafe on a canal barge at Little Venice that does a good cheese salad, but honestly where do you begin? London has virtually everything you could want. We could suggest the Opera, or watching the evening peak at Cannon Street, or anything inbetween

In London that doesn't narrow the field much. There is an abundance of all of those, especially lots of 'etc'. Suggest you simply Google 'London Walks' and 'London Markets' and take your pick from there. Depends if you want a guided walk or explore on your own.

A walk along the Thames South embankment from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge is always a pleasure, and the Houses of Parliament, St Pauls and The Tower are just three nice old buildings along the way.

If anyone in the family had any wartime involvement, maybe she'd like to see the Bomber Command memorial in Green Park.

Quite mobile, the best thing already mentioned would probably be the walk along the South Embankment

Should mention you'll only see St Pauls at a distance from the south bank, you'd have to cross the wobbly bridge to get up close. But between Blackfriars Bridge and Southwark Bridge you'll pass the Globe Theatre, which is something else worth Googling. It is a fair walk from one end to the other so don't wear her out.

I was also thinking of the walk from Warwick Ave to Camden Town along Regents canal, how does that compare to Embankment in terms of scenery & Interest?

I did the SkyGarden at the top of the Walkie Talkie a couple of weeks ago, that was worth a visit.

The walk along the canal is alright, nice and green, though you could be anywhere really.

It’s half term, so if you’re not doing this because of then, I’d leave to the following week…

There is tons you can do. Might be a bit cold for Kew at this time of year (gardens) unless you do the greenhouses.

Borough market is infamous if she’s a foodie. Or visit the markets in the city (petticoat lane) or greenwich. Greenwich has old buildings (palaces) and the cutty sark too.

Warwick Ave to Camden is good for the river, but it’s more residential/industrial. You don’t get city buildings.

If you don't mind spending a bob or two, a visit to the Shard really does give a terrific view of London and district. I have taken a number of family members and friends to the dizzy heights and it has always been well received. The Champagne experience is fun and the salt on the crisps is from Ynys Mon, my home patch!
