My parents are travelling from Euston to Atherstone next month and bought a Two Together railcard and advance tickets through Trip.com. While buying their tickets, they selected the wrong railcard type - 2x senior railcards, causing them two problems:

1. Trip haven’t issued the TTG railcard they bought (because they haven’t bought tickets using the railcard).
2. The tickets they have bought are invalid.

Naturally, Trip aren’t being particularly helpful. Advances can’t be refunded, only exchanged, and Trip won’t exchange for a ticket with another railcard.

Do they have any options that don’t involve completely losing their existing tickets?

The change of journey rules (which govern changing advance tickets) do not require the same railcard (or any railcard) to be used for the new booking. They require only that the number of passengers is the same, that the origin and destination are the same, and that the fare route (such as WMT only) is the same. Of course, there must also be availability and the transaction must be completed before the original Advance fare reservation starts.

So Trip.com must sort this out for you; they may not breach the advance ticket terms and conditions.

Thanks! I hoped that would be the case.
