As a Type 1 diabetic, I can say that is a load of crap. Even missing insulin injections for one or two days is NOT going to cause major issues. Though I never take precautions when travelling for only one day, which sometimes has become two days due to delays and problems, I have never been hospitalised or had any major dramas due to hyperglycemia. Since travelling usually involves lots of sitting, hypoglycemia is never an issue if I am eating regular meals.

Sorry for being OT.

No need to apologise and thanks for your input.

This to me simply demonstrates everything thats wrong with rail franchising. Heres TPE, a TOC who in my experience couldnt orgonise a kids party in a sofplay centre providing the kind of service that gets the Daily Fail mouthing off at a major station on a Sat night, a time when many will have missed last journey opportunitties

Elderly, Disabled, Lone Female and those in poor health in particular rely on the NRCOC and the duty of care obligation within to be followed at times like this, as of course do all passengers but what happens instead? Controll hang up, leaving station staff dealing with it and hang on a mo whats that? Youve reawarded them the franchise? It makes me sick!

In my work, which is off shore (so I've no Data Protection Act smokescreen to hide behind), if I don't want one of my clients to know that action has been taken against me, I simply don't mess up and I do my job correctly.
Without an effective DPA what is there to stop your employer (or other companies) making public whatever private details about you that they want? Needed time off to go to the STI clinic? We'll just tell whoever asks.

I'm curious as to what kind of medication the OP needed? A bar of chocolate or sugary drink will sort out a hypo in an emergency. There should be a vending machine at York to sell these. Missing an injection or tablet isn't going to do lasting damage.
Actually it will. The long term damage cause by diabetes is due to uncontrolled high blood sugar causing ketones to be released, which are what cause nerve, circulatory and sight problems. However high blood sugar won't cause short term problems in the same way as low levels.
High or low tho, you feel absolutely terrible. My son's blood sugar levels are very unpredictable and when he is high he can be an absolute sh*t, without even realising.
