1tph Airport- Manchester Picc- Man Vic- Rochdale- Halifax- Bradford
1tph Airport- Manchester- Stalybridge- Huddersfield- Leeds- York- Northallerton- Middlesbrough

1tph Airport- Manchester- Bolton- Preston- Lancaster- (Barrow 1tp2h), (Carlisle- Lockerbie- Edinburgh/Glasgow 1tp2h)
1tph Airport- Manchester- Chorley- Preston- Blackpool
1tph Airport- Crewe- Stoke- Derby (all stations)

Would they be via Mcr airport? If not, Liverpool (and Chester/N Wales) needs connection to the airport too?

East Lancs towns - Blackburn, Burnley etc, would also benefit from rail links to the airport

Are the Middlesbrough/Huddersfield services going through Man Vic or changing ends at Man Pic?

Why route the Barrow and Scottish services via Bolton? More people are going to be interested in going via Wigan. Quicker and better connections at Wigan.
To be honest I doubt the airport demand on that route anyway - far better to bin the airport stop and route through to Leeds or Sheffield instead. Let those going to the airport change at Piccadilly

Better connections at Wigan? Where for?
Limited airport demand at Lancaster/Preston/Bolton (and the rest)? And what's the point of running via Piccadilly to Sheffield or Leeds (the latter especially)? You're just blocking the Castlefield corridor unnecessarily!

Personally, I think that the service pattern at Manchester Airport is over-complicated. With trains to/from so many different locations, it is easily susceptible to delays and congestion if just a handful of trains are delayed almost anywhere in England, Wales or even Scotland.

Unfortunately things are not likely to change very much, as the Airport is partly owned by local councils. and hence the TfGM has (indirectly, but understandably) a vested interest in maximising the number of places with direct trains to/from the Airport, in order to increase passenger use of the Airport.

In a more logical world, a lot of people might be able to use local airports, rather than travel to airports such as Manchester, Heathrow, etc. In those circumstances, Trans Pennine & other long distance trains would go only to/from city centre stations, and the only rail services at Manchester Airport would be local shuttle services to/from Piccadilly & Victoria.

I disagree, largely because I think most people are put off by the thought of having to change trains
And rightly so, given how unreliable connections are in this country, and how difficult they can be at many stations.

Better connections westbound into Liverpool
And airport demand from Lancaster / Preston is limited: most people use taxis. Its door-to-door and cheaper if you're travelling as a family. And quicker.
As for running via Piccadilly, they are already doing that to get to the airport so there's no extra blocking
