Sorry for the stupid question but why are there no Oyster readers on trams like they have on buses?
In my view - this is not official:
Buses generally have one entry (& one exit in the case of London) - one entry means that every one joining the bus has to go past the ticket machine.
In the case of the trams, there is more than one entry door making it harder to install a oyster reader at every entry/exit. So the system we have now, where you touch in on the tram platform works perfectly and reduce's the amount of card readers needed.
HTH & makes sense!
On bendy buses and the Red Arrows you can board by any door and there are Oyster readers on the bus.Buses generally have one entry (& one exit in the case of London) - one entry means that every one joining the bus has to go past the ticket machine.
