Unfortunately, we have taken the (very hard) decision to cancel the Train of Lights for 2020. In making our decision, we gave a lot of consideration to the ever-changing nature of the Covid-19 pandemic and its obvious impact on events of this kind.
A further tightening of social distancing rules could make it impractical to run the event. However, even if we could run, the very real risk of staff having to self-isolate could cause us to cancel services with potentially little or no notice. Clearly this would be an unacceptable level of customer service that we are not prepared to risk.
In addition, those of you who experienced the event with us in 2019 will understand that the on-train atmosphere is a very real part of the overall experience and we were concerned that the reduced capacity would make the experience more subdued. And we definitely wouldn’t want that on the Train of Lights would we!
