I am considering taking the temporary Settle and Carlisle shuttle from Preston to Carlisle and back for the ride. Provisionally looking at times for 13th April, I find Real Time trains showing a departure from Carlisle at 18:04. This website and splitticketing.com offer that train but Avanti's own website and redspottedhanky.com don't offer it. How does this happen if they're all using the same underlying database?

Hmmm! I can see tickets being offered on the Avanti site for the 18:04 Avanti departure from Carlisle direct to Preston via Appleby. £10.50 Standard Class (advance single) and £48.60 First Class (advance single) on Monday 13th April 2026. Might the issue be that there's a faster TPE alternative, departing slightly later, via Lancaster, albeit requiring an RRB between Lancaster & Preston?
