Summary

It would appear that SS4 is finally getting the hang of this competition and started to pull off some magnificent performances. Twelve correct results in this round gave him a total of 47 points, and allowed him to up three places in the Average Points Table. If this form continues, who knows where he might end up at the end of this season. Greenback also had ten correct results, but without correct-scoreline predictions seem to elude him yet again, and that meant he only scored a modest total of 33.

Some unusually high scorelines this round meant some lower-than-average performances. bb21 was top scorer with 40 points (ten correct results) from 19 games, while CallySleeper took maximum bonus points in the away goals category, which means that the fight for the crown is as intense as ever.

andrew bell entered at the last minute, and despite so, true to his reputation, still took top bonus in the home points category, bringing his total to 85. In part it depended on most other competitors going over the correct prediction, such that merely being under the line (even by a massive margin) was sufficient to guarantee bonus points.

Summary

In a shock development, only four valid entries were received this round. Better organisation must surely be a top priority for many participants.

valenta took full advantage of the slip-up by the top two in the Total Points Table and became the new leader with a 9-point advantage. atomicdanny showed glimpses of his prowess as the champion from last season by scoring ten correct results and 41 points. andrew bell also scored ten correct results, however with no 5-point matches he could only accrue 32 points.

It is unsurprising that with so few contestants, everyone scored at least some bonus points. andrew bell yet again benefited from them and took home 12 large ones. He is now just 3 shy of the century. The other implication of so few entries is that for the second round in a row, bonus points were scored with very large margins of error.

None of the top three in the Average Points Table submitted a valid entry and there were no movements in that table.

Summary

The overwhelming number of away victories resulted in a record-breaking ultra-low home points aggregate in this round. In a competition first, everyone went over and only bb21 managed to scrape some bonus by a margin of error of 1 over.

If the atomicdanny from last round showed glimpses of the performance that enabled him to snatch the crown last season, then the atomicdanny from last season is back this time round, with eleven correct results and 41 points from 19 games, two of which had to be voided due to a late submission. Is it too little too late however?

The change at the top of the Total Points Table showed how fragile a margin of 9 points can be. This one will sure go down to the wire.

David's strong challenge at the top of the Average Points Table has temporarily come to an end after missing three rounds in a row. Nevertheless that does not mean the drama is drawing to a conclusion just yet. CallySleeper has a very fine lead to defend in the final four rounds of the season.

Summary

The fight for the crown has never been so intense before in the history of the game, with the lead changing hands again in this round. This time with valenta back at the summit with the slimmest margin after scoring the highest entry of this round - 39 points with 11 correct results.

A second consecutive round of poor home performances means an aggregate home points total even lower than the previous round's historic figures. Again only one person managed to get anywhere near, let alone scoop up top bonus. andrew bell's quest for his century may have to wait a little longer, after he surprisingly went away empty-handed this time.

Meanwhile the number of competitors still listed in the tables dropped like flies, falling victim to the busy Christmas commitments most probably. Delistment happened to another one - sonic2009 - this time, after persistently failing to submit an entry.

Summary

Yet again not long after taking up the prime position to claim the trophy, valenta seemed to falter. This has been a recurrent theme in his quests for the elusive championship throughout the last few seasons. Can he go one better this time with only two rounds to go?

For the second round in a row, there were only six valid entries, of which only atomicdanny managed to pick up ten correct results, scoring a moderate 34. Only CallySleeper managed to score more, at 35, and his position at the top of the Average Points Table was further consolidated with the nearest challenger bb21 scoring a disappointing 29, nevertheless his challenge for double success was all but ended after failing to enter in the last round.

After being rather quiet and unspectacular for so long this season, newbie babs managed to score a perfect bonus this round, being on-the-nose in both categories and taking with her a massive 22 points, meanwhile andrew bell finally picked up the points that gave him his century in bonuses, and in emphatic fashion too scoring a perfect 11 for away points.

Summary

With most people seemingly occupied for the Christmas period, this round again saw only six entries, but in them were some great performances.

atomicdanny seems to be mounting a late late assault on the trophy, but it is probably too little too late realistically speaking. Nevertheless he scored twelve correct results after the ten in the last round, for an eye-watering total of 47 points. In his way is valenta, who stated his ambition in bold fashion with eleven correct results for 41 points. After also taking 17 bonus points, his grand total for this round stands at 58, which has enabled him to overtake bb21 yet again and establish a 9-point lead at the top of the Total Points Table. He is therefore undoubtedly the favourite for the crown going into the final round. Third time lucky perhaps?

A rare sight from this round is andrew bell's exact prediction of the 5 - 3 scoreline at Walker's Stadium. Now that is truly something that you don't see everyday.

Summary

In a tense finale, valenta held his nerve and fought off bb21's challenge to become our new champion by virtue of scoring more bonus points. Both were top scorers with 38 points from 18 games, an average of just over 2 points per game.

CallySleeper is the other new champion, in the Average Points Table. Heading to the finishing line with an advantage of just over 0.005 point per game.

One notable achievement this season came from andrew bell, who became the first person to accumulate 100 points since the bonus system went into the current 6-3-1 format.

Summary

CallySleeper's inaugural campaign to retain his Average Points title started in emphatic fashion. valenta also put in a strong bid to become only the third person to complete a double in this competition. bb21 meanwhile also started off in the leading pack having missed out on both championship by a small margin last time round.

CallySleeper and bb21 both managed 11 correct results from 19 games, scoring respectively 41 and 40 points in the process, while valenta also managed to average 2 points per game.

Summary

Football is never dull, is it? High scorelines between supposedly evenly-matched sides, shock victories for minnows on paper, and speedy falls from grace faster than one can mutter the words "speedy fall" all in the space of a few weekends.

Following a total of a big fat zilch across all entries in lowly Hammers's victory at Cardiff City Stadium, the scoreless run continues in the shape of Donny's convincing win over a below-par Wigan side. Despite this, no less than five people managed to predict at least ten correct results in this round, half of all the entries. bb21 and CallySleeper from the leading pack in both tables both maintained their early season momentum with 12 correct results each, scoring 44 and 42 points respectively. sonic2009, with his first entry of this season, also notched up 42 points with ten correct results, five of which being precise scorelines, which allowed him to sit in third place in the Average Points Table. Debutant clagmonster put in a strong show, also with ten correct results, to come into the Average Points Table in fourth place. newbie babs was the other entry with ten correct results.

A ultra-low total of aggregate away goals means that for the first time in the history of this game, no bonus points were awarded.

Summary

Firstly apologies about an administrative mistake in the League Two fixture 133319, in which the away team should have been Portsmouth rather than Plymouth. In view of this mistake, all predictions for that game are void.

The only perfect bonus round entry propelled valenta to the leading position with no effort at all after giving him at least a 23-point advantage over all the other competitors. With few surprises, most entries managed to pick up maximum tally for the winners category. Newcomer clagmonster appeared to still be finding his feet after putting his money on the wrong team to start with in both categories, but quickly recovered in the following round to pick up 11 correct results from 19 games. A very high-scoring round saw no less than five entries scoring 11 correct results, and a further two with ten. Considering that there were only nine entries, this is a wonderful achievement across board.

This round also saw the first tie in the tables since the inception of the game. valenta and newbie babs both scored 107 points from their predictions, and more incredibly both have eight 5-point predictions, fourteen 3-point ones and five 2-point ones. This means that they tied for fourth position in the Average Points Table.

The high standard of this season's entries so far is worth pointing out, with last season's championship score in the Average Points Table only scraping a lowly sixth place should it be placed in the current table - firmly in the bottom half.

In an uneventful round, CallySleeper silently rose to the top of the Average Points Table without submitting an entry, due to bb21 failing to score highly in this round. With both bb21 and CallySleeper forgetting to submit an entry, this was a great opportunity for the others to make up some ground at the top of the tables. Nevertheless despite a positive performance across board with no less than four entries (out of seven) scoring at least ten correct results, no one managed to cross the 40-point threshold. clagmonster was the top-performer in this round with 11 correct results and 39 points. atomicdanny and sonic2009 both had 10 correct results, and a 37 and 36-point haul respectively. The other person who got 10 correct results was valenta, but a lack of five-pointers meant that he could only manage 33 points, one less than Greenback who had only eight correct results.

Summary

The key to winning the tournament may lie in running full speed ahead when everyone else falters, and that is exactly what bb21 did in this round. It seems that he is just unstoppable at the minute. Despite the recent setback of no-entry at the last two rounds, he was back in a breeze with another stunning performance of ten correct results, of which five were perfect scoreline predictions. They once again totalled over 40 points, 46 exactly, and with no one else over 28 points, the advantage at the summit of the table suddenly doubled again, to 37 points.

Round 13, unlucky for some, and that was certainly true for CallySleeper. Also coming back from two rounds of absence, he suffered a rare loss of form and produced his lowest score of the season so far, a disastrous 24, which plunged him to the foot of the Total Points Table with no mercy. Meanwhile in the Average Points Table, he continued the yo-yo game with clagmonster, once again swapping places.

In other news, newbie babs finally notched up her first bonus point of the season (Hurray!), after a barren run of 12 consecutive rounds - a new competition record. Hopefully it is onwards and upwards for her from now on.
