My postcount confuses me. Although I still post reasonably regularly I don't think it has gone up for around 3 years

Posts in the quiz forum do not count towards your post total but I believe do count to the top poster section (link at the bottom of forum main page). Track Basher fell afoul of this as he lost about 3,000 posts from his total.

There was a time where it was almost mandatory that I was top of charts!  Thankfully, those days have gone.

I used to feature quite regularly too, this is much better!

I don't post in those areas though. I can only assume old threads are being deleted at a similar rate to my current postings.

I don't think threads get deleted either (just locked) so not sure what it is...maybe you just see the 2 at the start of your count...and it takes a while to make it a 3 :D

I'm running second last in the 'Last 28 Days Section.' I didn't get much time to post in the holidays, and my two week trip to Africa sent me from the top of the '28 Day' chart all the way to the bottom!

Are you in imminent danger of relegation ? :p

On a lot of forums, I guess over 500 would be considered a lot of posts, not here! Been on the top posters list several times, for posts in a day/week.

I must confess that I felt admonished when the OP said that I had made "X" number of posts in the 28 day section to be top....and I had been away on holiday in Falmouth for the first week of that period, under a severe "wifely" injunction against forum use.

For a few months at least, I used to always be on at least one of the lists, and regularly more
Nowadays I don't post anywhere near as much as I used to, probably because I have other things to do.
Still here a lot of the time, mind.

You've over taken me on post count! How is this possible? :p

Butts must be right, I'm falling behind!

It shouldn't be a competition with regards to the most postings. To use the old adage, 'quality not quantity'. :D

Yes, I fully agree with you. I'm just surprised. :)

I posted that just as I appeared on two top lists!

On some forums, post counts really do matter and you have to display a sizeable count to get your point across or even be noticed by other members. However, at least officially, this doesn't seem to be the case on RailUK. Thankfully.

i never actually payed attention at post count before on here. Another forum i use, there is a bar under the user name, it gets longer and changes colours as you get more posts. A long green bar means you post lots, a short grey one means you dont. On that forum someone with a short grey thing could say something 2 or 3 times and get ignored, but if someone with a long green bar says the same thing, they get loads of response!

I totally agree with you when the posting total that is shown under the "username" panel is displayed, as this disregards quiz postings and reflects the actual posting on threads with a subject matter.

The old adage that you quoted may have had someting to do with the current situation of two differing posting totals that run concurrently.

I usually post a lot when I've got nothing else to do (like tonight :D ) but I don't think much of my posts are pointless. Or if they are, you tell me :)

We don't really need a topic discussing who has posted the most. The quality of posts is much more important
