Perhaps some are but the ones on Inter-City operators seem fine.

Then we will agree to disagree. Even if they're clean and sanitary they are generally cramped and often they are rather less than clean and sanitary thanks to the lack of care taken by previous users (either accidentally or otherwise).

Re them being cramped, as long as their is enough room to stand or sit down (which ever you need) what more do you need? If you really need acres of space you can use the disabled toilet. You cannot really expect toilets on modern trains to be the size of a house bathroom though i do remember the ones in mark 1 compartment stock to be roomy.

I believe that it's still available in certain outlets for the diehards....but I haven't seen Bronco for a long time.

So did the second man on the Peak hauling the afternoon Leeds-Carlisle somewhere approaching Ribblehead. At first I thought the loco itself had sprung a leak, and wondered why it didn't taste of antifreeze...

Usually overfilling which makes the bottom ones difficult to remove due to the compression

Overfilling is sometimes to blame but far more often the paper just gets wedged about a third of the way up inside the dispensers causing some users to think they’re entirety empty.

Even on Thameslink, they're usually fine in my experience. Certainly an order of magnitude better than the average station toilet

My friend and the 'roadshow' he was with got busted at Preston by BTP for doing this, bars of soap were involved too I think. Just a frightener and a telling off in the end.
