On Wednesday night, some charming individuals, broke into the container at the north end of Platform 1 at Wirksworth Station and stole every single locomotive from our model railway exhibition.

If you are offered any model trains or become aware of anybody suddenly becoming the owners of a fleet of secondhand model railway kit, please contact Derbyshire Constrabulary immediately.

They can be contacted by dialling 101 or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 272-12/01/2013

So that people can keep a better lookout, can you advise, are these OO Gauge models or some other sort?

Both N and OO.

Thanks for the offers. I'm just passing the message on so dont know exactly what was taken I've asked for some sort of stocklist.

What I do know is all the rolling stock from both the N gauge and the 00 layouts plus the controllers and all the buildings wre taken. They also stole the items for sale in the container. To add insult to injury they made a hole in the N gauge layout baseboard with a hammer.

Sorry to hear about this.

If there are any in the area, it might be worth checking those Money Spinners type of shops that buy secondhand items.

Those types of shops ( assuming its cash converters etc we're talking about) are also very vigilant about stolen goods, and everyone who they buy goods from has their details taken, a photo taken, and a copy of a recent utility bill/ bank statement to provide traceability if any goods are identified as stolen.

I hope the stolen models are safely returned.
