We sampled the North Wales Coast express last Sunday from Liverpool, Lime Street to Llandudno, and return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day out, and found the supplied route-guide informative and useful. In the afternoon, we had good weather when we explored the Great Orme and its Tramway. A very different form of transport!
By coincidence we were hauled by 70013 Oliver Cromwell which I came across some 3 years ago being painted when I visited the loco works at Loughborough. And as a child our family holidays were very often at Colwyn Bay, so some parts of the route were familiar.
Living in Milton Keynes we drove to Liverpool and chose to stay in The Liner Hotel which is adjacent to Lime Street Station.
Well recommended - we took our own food so didn't sample the offerings in the dining car.
