Withdrawal of The Green Bus services
I am very sorry to advise you that The Green Bus will not operate bus services during the forthcoming 2023/24 academic year.
We have made this very difficult decision because the costs of providing our services now exceed the incor we receive. A 38.1% increase in our motor insurance premium from 1 August 2023 made our networks financially loss-making.
We spent August 2023 to try to place our services with another bus operator, After lengthy negotiations, wi came to an agreement with a large bus firm early this week. They would have operated services on our behalf. Sadly, they withdraw from the arrangement on Thursday morning: we now have no choice but to withdraw our services.
Refunds
All customers who have paid us for travel in 2023/24 will be refunded in full. Please follow the directions o the next page of this letter to ensure that you receive your refund promptly.
Alternative travel

And finally
I should like to thank you for your business with The Green Bus, I am sorry that we are no longer able to offi bus services, and for the inconvenience our decision will cause. Terminating the employment of our long-serving staff yesterday was one of the most difficult things I have done. Sadly, it is simply unsustainable for small operators to survive in the rapidly-declining marketplace for local bus services.
