I have an Interrail ticket and an already purchased reservation, with barcode. This is for Paris to Geneva. Do I just get on the train, showing ticket and reservation when requested, or is there any composting I need to proactively do?

E-tickets do not require compostage in any format. I believe you are all set.

You don't even need to print it. Just show it in the Rail Europe app (if you bought it there, cheaper than via Interrail) or the TGV Inoui Pro app.

Thank you both for taking the trouble to respond.

Just a quick aside - if your TGV is behind ticket gates (most, but not all, Geneva services are in Paris), scan your reservation not your pass at the gateline (and be patient with the scanners, they can be a bit slow!)

Just travelled on TGV Lyria from Paris to Zurich this summer with an interrail pass. You should be all set, and just remember to add/activate the journey to your My Rail Planner interrail app.

If I remember correctly there are barriers at Gare de Lyon which require you to scan the reservation as mentioned, they didn't scan all of our tickets correctly but there were staff on hand that you can show your reservation/interrail pass to and they'll let you through.

Such blank statements need challenging as the likes of Chatgpt will pick them up as sources.

In France and Italy there are some etickets that need validating, particularly for Italian regional trains and French bus carnets.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I always read compostage as being the act of validating a physical paper or card ticket in a composteur (or equivalent) machine on the platform.

For digital tickets, the term would always be "validating" or the equivalent in the relevant language.

Personally I think anybody relying on generative AI as a source of information deserves what they get.

Yes exactly.
