Tfl - child fare query for children aged 10

What does a 10 year old child from Horsham pay on the Underground (say Victoria to Paddington) or on a bus in London? It seems they pay nothing but I have not noticed lots of young children being asked to be let through the barriers. Thank you

If travelling with a fare paying adult, 5-10 year olds get free travel on TfL buses and trams.

They can travel for free on all other TfL services (except the Elizabeth line west of West Drayton) with a 5-10 Zip Oyster card. This must be applied for in advance and carries an application fee of £11.50.

To add to what @Watershed has said most 5-10 year olds living in London will have a Zip Oyster card which means they can use the barriers with their own card.

For people travelling in from outside London where parent(s) are using a Travelcard it can be cheaper to buy a Friends & Family discounted travelcards for everyone rather than paying the full adult price with the children travelling free on the underground. Also Family travelcards are sometimes available that will give the child a ticket.
