The 347 has been a tameside route for over 40yrs, only moved to Hyde Rd after tameside depot on whitelands rd closed in November 1991 and moved back to tameside when stagecoach opened a depot up the road from the old depot on Clarence Street in 2010 after they closed glossop depot.
Same with route 50 was always Hyde road for years until 2017 when they moved to sharston I think the reason why was to replace the 84 which ran from Manchester to reddish but got withdrawn and the 42 and 42A were transferred to Hyde road from sharston and 50 was moved to sharston

Same with 42 and 50. The 42 was run by Sharston and the 50 was run by Hyde road until 2017 when they swapped them around. This was probably due to the removal the 84.

After nearly five years since this thread was started, it's time to bring it to a close.

Initially, the discussion was focused around the original proposals to introduce a franchised system in Manchester. This has now happened, although the actual details of which operator runs which services are still to be finalised.

This thread, unfortunately, has become a bit of a catch-all for anything relating to "Manchester" and "buses" and it has become rather too broad in scope.

There are several ongoing threads. For details of Bee Network fleet movements, repaints, etc., please use this one:

If you wish to speculate about which operator(s) will benefit from the next round of franchising, you're welcome to add your comments here:

Concerning football - here's the thread that discusses the recent proposals for the Man City network:

And another thread discussing the more historic services:

That said, if anyone wishes to discuss a particular aspect of the Bee Network services or, if you have any suggestions for improvements of those services, feel free to start a new thread about that topic.

If you wish to head down memory lane and talk about how good or bad a certain route was in the old days, it's probably best to start a new thread!
