It’ll be interesting to hear sound recordings post-repair. Tangmere was sounding a bit agricultural just before the failure.

The youtube video I watched last night didn't sound too great, although you could easily tell it was a three cylinder Bulleid. Think the valve events meed a bit of tweaking

In the first clip, the Deisel on the rear was pushing quite hard. Have to admit, it did not 'sound' quite right [although I am no steam fitter] so not qualified to make a definitive statement!

Heading from York to Carnforth today. Not sure what’s going on on the Bentham Line today as everything else is buses.

So in the end Tangmere did run from York to Edinburgh and back successfully - and thanks to those who have posted videos of the event.
I say hats off to RTC and Carnforth for the achievement which many will have enjoyed and be grateful for.

Posts #24&26 above, were ill informed and above all derogatory to those at RTC and Carnforth who worked so hard for this success.
There may have been on excusable typo by the RTC office in the hurry to get this trip out, but I know from long experience with RTC that this is just the sort of trip they pull off potentially against the odds.
It was the late wonderful Nigel Dobbing who instilled this approach into the company's ethos.

Poster #26, who is apparently, 'Established' should establish the facts before denigrating from the armchair - an apology would not be out of order.
