Are there level crossings that might need attention before significantly increasing the service?
There are three LCs where the railway crosses minor A-roads (one of which has a bypass with a heigh limit of 8'0"), and about another 20 where it crosses unclassified roads or access roads/tracks.
Some of the crossings on private access are not signalised and so might not be considered suitable.
I don't think traffic levels are high enough that the crossings being closed twice an hour would cause a major problem.

The most obvious one is just to the east of Whitley Bridge, which is also the closest to an M62 junction if you're trying to encourage modal shift (you'd need a bigger car park, of course). There's a bridge over the canal to the south but no landing area north of the station if you were to fund an extension to it to cover the railway.

Definitely one next to Snaith as well.

Yes the level crossing at Whitley Bridge certainly needs some attention, see (streetview} :)
The A19 provides a bridge over the line which avoids the level crossing. Locals will used to closures as the trains to Drax pass through. There appears plenty of room for car parking either side of the railway.
