Hey guys first post here

I just started a new job. i live in stourbridge and get the train from stourbridge junction and I get it to Birmingham snow hill, I work a 9 to 5 so I have to be on the london midland train for 820ish.

it's about 6 pounds for a return monday to friday and so that works out at 30 pounds a week. what is my best option guys?

A zone 1-5 season ticket? monthly?

or is there any kind of railcard worth getting? I like the look of the 16-25 railcard but it seems to only give discounts on trains after 10am, although I have read there is an exception for advanced fares. does anyone know more about this?

Any help is much appreciated

cheers!
Aaron

The 16-25 railcard gives discounts at all times - however before 10am there is usually a minimum fare of £10 (or it might be £12). The discount doesn't apply to seasons though - only point to point fares

A zone 1-5 ticket is going to be your best bet- check the prices for different period

The railcard minimum fare is £12, so you won't get any discount on your £6.70 anytime return.

A zone 1-5 monthly ticket is best value IF you can pay by direct debit - works out at £57.50 a month, comapred to a £66.50 a month season ticket. However, if you can't pay by direct debit, the zonal ticket costs more (though obviously you get the added benefits of travel to the rest of the West Midlands for free). A weekly season ticket is £17.50 - obviously more expensive over the course of a month, but worth remembering for months where you have holiday booked (and so don't need a month ticket).

There is a now a direct season ticket you can get from SBJ-BHM which is slightly cheaper than the zonal.

However, the zonal pass with direct debit is the cheapest and you get the whole network west midlands area thrown in.
