I am booked over the aug bank holiday weekend sunday & monday on the waverley from york to carlisle via settle & the west coast rail service to scarborough from york....does anyone know how these trips have been ruuning so far this year and just of out of curiosity, why the scarborough trains are going via wakefield this year instead of harrogate which they have done overthe last 2 or 3 years? Also hoping to catch some steam that weekend on the wensleydale rly. Rgds.

The Waverley, aside from the first run, which was lightly loaded and the second which was cancelled due to low bookings, has been doing Ok. You should get 46115 on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend and the same loco should do the SSE on the Monday. The SSE via the new route has been filling very well; 500+ to Scarborough on some days. It isn't going via the Harrogate Circle as, I'm told, NR wouldn't path it at anything like a convenient time through Leeds station at any price. The new route does give a later start and earlier finish and, as it's doing very well for passengers seems to have proved a good move for WCRC.
