A couple of years I put on a thread asking if anyone knew which stations had reopened since 1999, it was in an effort to keep my Cobbs rail atlas up to date.
The info below was kindly posted.
Does anyone know about stations opened in the last two years so it can be added to the list below.

The following stations have opened in the past ten years according to a response to a question that appeared in Hansard recently...

West Brompton (1999)
Horwich Parkway (1999)

Quite a lot more DLR stations as well:

Elverson Road (1999)
Lewisham (1999)*
West Silvertown (2005)

King George V (2005)
Langdon Park (2008 )
Woolwich Arsenal (2009)*

I have to say I'd rather have just reopened the original thread than start a new one. Personally I think automatically locking threads isn't a particularly good idea, and as far as I can remember no other forum I use does that !

Opened since mid-2009:

Everything between Drumgelloch and Bathgate (both of which were themselves resited); everything from Dalston Junction to Surrey Quays; Southend Airport; Buckshaw; Workington North (since closed); Stratford International; Wood Lane (tube); and Canning Town to Stratford Intl on the DLR.

Think that's it.

All the scottish stations reopened like Bathgate,Caldercruix, Blackridge and Armadale. All look the exact same! Not individual charcter to them at all. Grey and more grey!

... And? They are there to function as a railway station, not win beauty contests. You also forgot Drumgelloch if you are including Bathgate.

I presume you do realise almost every railway company in the UK had a house style for stations opening at the same time? It is common for stations to all look the same on a route whether built in 1870. 1930 or 2011.

I know, but its strange it was like i was looking at the same station!

I'm sure its nothing like Milton Keynes as a place...every road, roundabout etc looks like the one next to it and the one next to that etc etc!

Because every other town in the UK isn't just a mindless mesh of identical looking streets of housing... :/

2009: Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Corby too, didn't see those mentioned above.

MK is very uniform though, it has all the character of an abandoned graveyard.

That's just a throwaway insult that bares no relation to what MK is really about or what it's like as a place to live. Plenty of ''traditional'' towns have less character; something being young or different to what you're used to doesn't make it wrong.

I disagree. I see no character in the place, no history, everything is the same, or to the same design. 99% of other UK towns have some variation and character, I just cannot see that in MK, it is all uniform to me.

I shouldn't hog this thread to discuss this but uniformity doesn't equal no character. The history IS the creation of the new town which is fascinating, as is the entire new towns programme. Recent history is still history. Besides Bletchley Park, Bradwell Abbey and a host of other brilliant pieces of history are within MK. Also people always sneer at the concrete cows but few other UK towns have something distinctive and characterful to identify with them in that way.

Just checked again and pretty sure nobody's mentioned AVP or Corby.

Fail! I shall go and hang my head in shame...

On a partially relevant note does anybody have up to date usage figures for those two stations?

Ah that's awesome, nice one.

When do the 10/11 figures get published? AVP should experience year-on-year growth as the housing estate it was built to serve gradually starts to get built.

When will the 2010-2011 figures be published ?....Also, bearing in mind that I am a novice at all things computerised, who ensures that all this new statistical information on all the railway stations on Wikipedia is updated ?

The 10-11 figures really should be any time now. It used to be in spring when they were published, but it has got gradually earlier for the past three / four years.

As for Wikipedia, the clue is in the name. A 'wiki' is a website which anyone can edit, so it is up to anybody to edit each page to update them.

Obviously this is so, but I had in mind the total number of currently open railway stations that all show this entry. It would be better if one major body were to perform this task of entering the 2010/2011 figures, rather than leaving it to a series of individuals.

I note that on the railway station information, all those that were showing as NXEA as the managing body now show this as Greater Anglia.

I wonder if there is some confusion here?
The station useage figures are collated by Delta Rail for the Office of the Rail Regulator (ORR). It is the ORR who publish these figures here.

The fact that some individuals may then transfer some of that data to Wikipedia is an optional and ancilliary task that they take on for their own reasons.

Wikipedia will be all taken care of. They have some pretty sophisticated tools used to help do all kinds of tasks, like sort articles into the 'categories' seen at the bottom of each page. As soon as the ORR have officially released the figures I'm sure they'll get one of their 'bots' to update the information on each article, which will be a fairly short task done by a computer in bulk.
