G'day everyone,

I thought this might make for interesting thread. I'll kick things off with the suggestion of Camden Road which was situated on the MML just to the north of the Camden Road tunnels. The station was closed in 1916 due to the war and perhaps not surprisingly never re-opened.

Any other suggestions would be very welcome.

Kind regards,

Richmond Commuter!

Here is a list from Wikipedia, it does say it is incomplete. There is also one for Underground Stations as well.

I'm sure people will post missing ones out.

I've always found Broad Street to be a rather interesting station considering it was so large with nine platforms! Seems strange to think of such a large London Terminus shutting down completely. It was larger than Marylebone!

You might want to browse this site: Disused Stations.

A very dangerous website! Much time can be lost going through it

Broad Street was a very busy station at one time, with trains to Richmond, Chalk Farm (& beyond on the LNWR line), Finsbury Park (& beyond on the GNR lines) plus Poplar - several trains per hour on each at peak periods. As they would all be steam trains before electrification, they would need more platforms than required by multiple units.

The growth of tram/bus routes & London Underground probably helped the demise of the lines via east London to Poplar. The start of electric services through from Moorgate to Finsbury Park and the GN main lines effectively killed the need for the residual peak hour services between Broad Street and the GN suburban stations beyond Finsbury Park.

Only went to Broad Street the once, on the last day. Caught a train from Primrose Hill (I think) in the evening peak, came in to the only platform by then in use. Don't recollect seeing anyone taking photos or anything. Definite fin de siècle feeling about it. Must say, I quite like the Broadgate development and regularly go there on my London visits, I'm probably the poorest person in the place!
