Fred, you may (only) be 1 and a half hours away, but your supposed to use it regularly... almost everytime I go out on a rail meet I go through Tottenham, and if I'm not I'll have a free travel pass so I'll go down there.

On Northern you should visit every week, with a full report every month or so.

With us we have a group meeting with One every three months so it ties into that.
One dont want it any more frequently as they find it impossible to act on the reports as they are!

If I don't contact them for three months straight I'm out of the scheme, but they want one every two weeks as it's an interchange station, apparently.

Its a lot more relaxed on our side.

We talk to the Group Station and Duty Station Managers in person every three months to go through all the projects and ideas and to give reports, then if we have any other problems between we just email them.

We generally do larger projects at stations throughout the time as well which keeps everyone involved and in contact - its more of a community thing between neighbouring stations

Gizzy, Northern are shaking up their station adoption scheme, and, afaik, putting all their stations up for re-adoption, to enable to other people to have a chance at adoption (as atm, I think there are only 5 or somthing NT stations unadopted). Your best bet is to email Carl Longfield (carl.longfield@northernrail.org) (he is in charge of new 'adoption' recruits). Be careful however, I am not sure about Northern's stance on taking on people who are employed / dependants who already have staff travel facilities?

I've always viewed station adoption as a way of getting people to do for free what the TOC should be paying people to do...

Cheers for that James. I'm not bothered about the free travel thing that comes with it. I'd just like to see a couple of the stations on our line looking a little nicer

Not sure how big the shakeup on Northern is going to be, certainly the big groups aren't going to be ousted, its more likely going to be those who aren't doing the work as often as they should!

jd, I disagree - you don't have to do anything to do with work, other than telling them if their staff members are doing a good job or not!
