Saw a massive mobile crane at St Denys today..a few onlookers were rubber-knecking as well. Are they doing any track work on the main line to Swaythling? On another note, Totton P/way yard, run by Carillion I think, has been very busy over the last few weeks with parked wagons etc.

Extract from SWT website: Other work will also be done during this time, including replacement of a bridge and track renewals at St Denys and some work at Swaythling station.

Totton coalyard is the materials base for the W10 enhancement work on Soton tunnel. Full of slab track and Salmon flat wagons. Absolutely ridiculous trying to use the coalyard as an access point. Had to go in on the level crossing for a big stress job because some *cough* "Berkeley Hunt" had blocked the vehicular access to the down end of the yard with timber. Don't get anyone started on trying to use Soton Pway either...*grumble* *moan*. Be glad when it's all over with.

St Denys is within the possession taken for the tunnel work so as much big work as possible is shoehorned into maximising the regular possession times. Massive scrap clearance programme not so long ago.
