Spltting Tickets

As said in my other post, I want to travel to Bodmin Parkway with my friend from Leeds.

Now, I think to be on the safe side as he has no ID - he's going to have to get an Adult ticket. Now, I've heard of this splitting thing tonight, and was wondering if it would be useful for getting to Bodmin?

And if anyone could find out any tickets for me and the such??

Are there really no AP fares available?

Splitting tickets on such a journey for a day trip is sensible - as there is obviously no CDR available. But for a week away? Splitting Savers into Savers doesn't often save much money, and Leeds to Bodmin is the nice "Valid after 0500" restriction. If you really want to look at the cost of splitting Savers then have a play with Avantix Traveller, or the NXEC website and try splitting at different places (e.g. SHF/DBY/BHM/CNM/BRI/TAU/EXD/PLY - all those 3 letter codes will work if you put them into either Avantix or NXEC's site), you could also try different routeings e.g. try splitting at MAN or even try LDS-MAN cheap AP tickets, MAN-EUS megatrain, PAD-BOD AP?

Anyway I have had an idea, and you have a PM.

One thing is for sure, he will save money by getting a Y-P compared to paying adult fares. Although if he travels just one day earlier he can still use child fares so that has to be worth considering surely?

BTW if he does not have a birth certificate how come he is in the country? If he has one he can obtain a child rate pass free.

Yes there are - talk about wanting to be spoon fed! Ive already provided the OP with details of the cheapest tickets and when to travel at £30.50 out and £36.95 back (full fare) from Bodmin. (And cheaper ones too, but they have gone now.)

Why on earth are you now wanting a full fare ticket for the outward when he won't even be 16? :???:

Maybe it's his height? I struggle getting child fare when I forget my b_line on the bus, never had any problems with railways though. 6rdfar90, do you mean he has no under 16 type pass/ID like Citizencard?

Slightly off-topic but it was in the news either last week or the week before that there was a 16 year old girl iirc who did not 'exist' officially because she was born on holiday in Spain and Spanish officials messed up with their documentation...

Yes, I have been given some ticket prices as Blackwatch said, but I thought maybe they could be cheaper if it was possible to split them.
