Split season ticket advice

Finishing up an annual season ticket and looking to buy another soon.

I travel from Faygate to London Bridge (Thameslink) 4 days per week. When I used to PAYG, I would use split tickets via Gatwick airport. It crossed my mind to check whether 2 season tickets (FGT-GTW, GTW-LBG) would be cheaper than one all the way through - and it is, by about £300 per year.

Is this possible, to hold 2 season tickets, on one key smart card?

And is this the most efficient way to travel this route? I presume so, but no official way to check season ticket splits. Any help really appreciated!

If they are full (continuous) season tickets, yes, but it isn't advisable for flexi-seasons.

Hi there If I have 2 Flexi Season tickets, one for Didcot - Slough and another for Slough - Paddington, are they valid for use on any Didcot - Paddington service, ie no issue if the train doesn't stop at Slough? I think this is ok, based on section 14.3 of the Conditions of Travel. Taking this...

From a quick search, Gatwick does appear to be the cheapest station to split at. The reason it's cheaper is that you are getting a "Not Underground" ticket from Gatwick to London Thameslink - it's more restricted than the "Any Permitted" London Terminals season ticket you'd get from Faygate.

This means that you can't travel into Victoria, Charing Cross, Waterloo etc., which a Faygate-London Terminals ticket would allow. However, a London Thameslink season ticket does allow you to travel to Farringdon or St Pancras, which a London Terminals season ticket wouldn't allow. So it's 'horses for courses'.

And yes, you can load multiple season tickets onto a smartcard. If they're weekly/monthly/annual etc. ones then this should work just fine. The problems people have reported is about Flexi Seasons, since they require activation for each day you want to travel.
