This is my proposed NPR timetable pattern:
  • 2tph Liverpool Lime Street to Edinburgh Waverley (1tph to Edinburgh Haymarket)
    • Liverpool South Parkway*, Warrington Bank Quay, Manchester Interchange, Manchester Piccadilly, Bradford Interchange, Leeds, York, Northallerton Darlington, Durham, Chester-le-Street, Newcastle, Morpeth, Alnmouth, Berwick-upon Tweed, Edinburgh Waverley, Edinburgh Haymarket, Motherwell(6tpd to Glasgow Central via Carstairs, 4tpd to Aberdeen)
[* = Yes I know NPR/HS3 or Crossrail for the North or whatever you want to call it will not stop at it, but I would reroute NPR that way.]
  • 1tph Liverpool Lime Street to Cleethorpes
    • Liverpool South Parkway, Warrington Bank Quay, Manchester Interchange, Manchester Piccadilly(reverse), Stockport, Sheffield, Meadowhall Interchange, Rotherham Central, Doncaster, Habrough, Grimsby Town and Cleethorpes
  • 1tph Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich
    • Liverpool South Parkway, Warrington Bank Quay, Manchester Interchange, Manchester Piccadilly(reverse), Stockport, Hazel Grove, Chinley, Dore and Totley, Sheffield(reverse), Dronfield, Chesterfield, Ilkeston Junction + the stops the existing service picks up, Nottingham, Grantham, Peterbrough, Ely, then the stops the existing service stops at to Norwich
  • 1tph Liverpool Lime Street to Saltburn-by-the-Sea/Hull
    • Liverpool South Parkway, Warrington Bank Quay, Manchester Interchange, Manchester Piccadilly, Bradford Interchange, Leeds City(split)
    • Hull portion: Selby, Brough, Hull
    • Saltburn-by-the-Sea portion: York, Durham, Chester-Le-Street, Darlington(reverse), Thornaby, Middlesbrough, Redcar Central and Saltburn-by-the-Sea
  • 1tph Manchester Piccadilly to Scarbrough
    • (weekend and summer services extended to Liverpool Lime Street, calling at Manchester Interchange, Warrington Bank Quay and Liverpool South Parkway)
    • Bradford Interchange, Leeds City, York, Malton, Seamer and Scarbrough

I think you've gone wrong with this idea? I assume the plan must be to close Yarm as well??? That will go down well.

Some stuff not right for me here. First of all, take it on its own alignment (in a Tunnel) down to Sth Pway area and give it its own tracks all the way. Complete segregation is surely the way. Liverpool to Norwich - split this at Nottingham, send it via Dore curve, only call at Chesterfield, Alfreton and Nottingham after this. Serve Scarborough and Saltburn on regular TPE. Also Durham and CLS are the wrong side of Darlo.

2tph Liverpool to Edinburgh calling at Warrington Bank Quay HS, Manchester Interchange, Manchester HS, Leeds HS, York, Darlington, Newcastle HS, Edinburgh HS and Glasgow HS.

2tph Birmingham to Newcastle calling at Crewe, Manchester Interchange, Manchester HS, Bradford HS, Leeds HS, York, Darlington, Durham and Newcastle HS.

2tph Liverpool to Hull calling at Widnes for Runcorn, Warrington Bank Quay HS, Manchester Interchange, Manchester HS, Bradford HS, Leeds HS, Selby, Brough and Hull

1tph Liverpool to Cleethorpes calling at Widnes for Runcorn, Warrington Bank Quay HS, Manchester Interchange, Manchester HS, Stockport, Sheffield, Meadowhall, Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Barnetby, Habrough, Grimsby Town and Cleethorpes.

1tph Liverpool to Nottingham calling at Widnes for Runcorn, Warrington Bank Quay HS, Manchester Interchange, Manchester HS, Stockport, Chesterfield, Alfreton and Nottingham.

1tph Manchester to Newcastle calling at Stockport, Sheffield, York, Darlington and Newcastle HS.

1tph Manchester to Leicester calling at Stockport, Chesterfield, Derby and Leicester.

Then on TPE:

1tph Saltburn to Liverpool calling at Redcar Central, Middlesbrough, Thornaby, Eaglescliffe, Yarm, Northallerton, York, Garforth, Leeds, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Manchester Victoria, Newton-le-Willows, Earlestown and Liverpool Lime Street.

1tph Newcastle to Stockport calling at Chester-le-Street, Durham, Darlington, Northallerton, Thirsk, York, Garforth, Leeds, Huddersfield, Stalybridge and Stockport (for Man Airport) - continues to Bristol or further as XC.

1tph Scarborough to Liverpool calling at Seamer, Malton, York, Wakefield Kirkgate, Huddersfield, Manchester Victoria, Lea Green, Huyton and Liverpool Lime Street.

A speculative NPR timetable depends upon what infrastructure you think will be built. I think we will see the full HS2 network built and a new line built between Manchester Piccadilly and Diggle, with electrification through to York. Piccadilly will be the 6 platform terminus station, with the new line facilitating 6 fast, 2 semi-fast and 2 stoppers between Leeds & Manchester and the Hope Valley upgrade facilitates 3 fast between Sheffield & Manchester.

So, I think we could see:
  • 2 tph Newcastle - Birmingham Curzon Street
    • Newcastle, Durham, Darlington, York, Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester Piccadilly HS2, Manchester Airport HS2, Birmingham Curzon Street
  • 2 tph York - Birmingham New Street
    • York, Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester Piccadilly HS2, Manchester Airport HS2, Crewe, Stafford, Wolverhampton, Birmingham New Street
  • 2 tph Hull - Liverpool Lime Street
    • Hull, Selby, Leeds, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Stalybridge, Manchester Victoria, Newton, Liverpool Lime Street
  • 2 tph Middlesbrough - Liverpool Lime Street
    • Darlington, Northallerton, York, Leeds, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Stalybridge, Manchester Victoria, Liverpool Lime Street
  • 2 tph Nottingham - Liverpool Lime Street
    • Same stopping pattern as today
  • 1 tph Cleethorpes - Manchester Piccadilly
    • Same stopping pattern as today
  • 2 tph Leeds - Manchester Airport stopper via Ordsall Chord

Imagine the Leeds to Manchester separate route happens in full - what then?

Well of it’s a new line in full, then we could see 6-8 fast tph in to Picc HS2, plus on the existing line capacity for running a host of semi-fast and stoppers.
