(1) Hammersmith LU has two three-letter codes, as there are two stations. Which one's for the H&C and which one's for the 'underground'?

(2) What do these LU gateline error codes mean? 21, 22 and 49 (or might have been 94)?

There are 2 stations at Hammersmith, one for the Circle and Hammersmith line (for which the code is HMS) and one for the District and Piccadilly line (for which the code is HMD). Neither stations are underground and both are served by subsurface lines.

21 is double entry attempted and 22 is double exit attempted, i.e. the card has just been used in that direction through that gateline, and you can only enter/exit once on one card!

49 doesn't exist, 94 is card communications failed, normally caused when people try to wave their Oyster card over the reader like it's a magic wand, or don't hold it on the reader for long enough, so try again later.

Thanks. I thought the one under the bus station is classed as 'underground' as it is served by the Piccadilly Line, but then again District is sub-surface. I guess my understanding is a bit muddled.

I think the station code in Avantix Traveller is different to these ones as all LU stations start with Z. I was trying to distinguish between those two maybe I didn't make myself clear.

I have them down on my usage statement as 'rejected entry' and 'rejected exit'. Trouble is, I'm pretty sure I didn't touch in or out twice by mistake and I have quite a few of these events listed. Usually when it happens, the gate flashes 'seek assistance' then automatically opens at the same time to let me through.

I asked about 94 because the woman in front of me yesterday at Victoria got that message but the gate still opened to let her through.

If the gates opened and displayed a 94, it suggests the card has been successfully read once, gates opened, and partially read again.

London Underground use their own coding system for their own stations. The 3 letter codes in Avantix Traveller are CRS codes for BR. The Circle and Hammersmith line station is ZHZ (the ''M'' stands for Metropolitan as that was the previous incarnation of that line). The District and Picc line station is ZHA (the ''D'' stands for District). If you want to get a ticket to these locations from outside the Zones then you need a ticket to U12 rather than specifying individual Tube stations/

Normally when this happens the person before you has gone through on your ticket.

This is extremely annoying, as if you're following close behind the person who causes this, you tap your Oyster on the reader just as the light changes to red. You are then standing in the gates so you need to step backwards until the reader changes to yellow before your card will read again.

My journey log for mileage purposes require these codes so that I wouldn't have to enter their full names.

I did figure that the D might be for District but couldn't understand what the M was for.
