That corridor has been really badly affected, although the section from Airdrie to Livingston in general is quite bad because of the height. That said, we had over a foot here in Coatbridge; in years gone by it was rare for the snow to lie, never mind get up to over a foot!

Yeah and East Kilbride is high up to and there is a lot less

I'm surprised at how well EK did. Some of my placements are up that way, and it seemed to cope OK compared to what we did down here.

Had a trip to South Wales yesterday, light layer of snow north of London and in London itself. Very little through Reading and all the way to the other side of the Severn Tunnel - about 2 inches by Llanwern, increasing rapidly the other side of Newport until around 6 inches in Cardiff hock:

Luckily my destination was within walking distance of a station as there is no way of getting anything other than a 4 wheel drive down the hill. Had a very pleasant walk in the snow and bright sunshine this morning however

Hertford's been hit quite well, least couple of inches on the platforms, pavements and car park near Hertford North, 2 HGVs involved in a accident on the A414 nearer to Welwyn Garden City.

Have to say a lot of the roads in Shropshire and Staffordshire are terrible, The A5 was very icy and snowy and lots of slow moving traffic, Traffic into B'north (From Telford) very slow and icy.

The road between Bridgnorth and Highley was by far the worse today gritted far to late sadly :/

The last stuff is gone on the roads in Edinburgh, but the paths are still icy in places. Apparently more due in the next couple of days.

5 inches in our garden in Epsom.

4 inches in Kensington around the Albert Memorial.

Got home without any problems though - even took the time to dine at the St Pancras Grand restaurant after the concert at the Albert Hall! On the way back the kids were enjoying the arcing on the other trains out of Waterloo - and a bit reflecting from our own train...

Wasn't expecting it though, felt more like driving though the Scottish Highlands then Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire!

I think I was lucky to get to 40mph, most of the time it was between 25mph and 30mph in the end what is normally for me a 90 minute journey took 180 minutes.

Still once on the other side of St Neots, 70mph all the way,

One of my colleagues which normally takes them 12 minutes by car took them 40 minutes today because of the poor weather conditions.

Well, it has been bad all over Europe. Not that a lot of this will be widely reported as the media likes to say that everywhere else copes brilliantly.

Only yesterday, TV4 (Sweden) did a report on how badly their railway is suffering in the bad weather - with trains heavily delayed and cancelled, and talking about the cutbacks in staff and problems with sub-contracting maintenance... If they weren't talking Swedish, it could have been the UK they were talking about!

We really need to get into London tomorrow so I hope the trains will be running okay on the ECML, but we'll have to walk to/from the station as I doubt local buses will be running.

Went into work at 8am today. No snow, aside from what was left from the last month of wintery weather. At 2pm, a customer informs me that it's, and I quote, "worse than last Monday", when six inches fell over the space of two hours and traffic in Scotland ground to a halt.

I left the store at half-three. In the seven-and-a-half hours since my shift started, less than an inch of snow had fallen. :roll:

Problems on EC tonight - nothing coming in to KGX after overhead lines down, so passengers advised to use Cambridge bound FCC trains and change at Hitchin for a FCC train to Peterborough (presumably running north okay?).

Just got home, on a Cambridge train (ran to time) from KGX and hear someone live on BBC News talking about chaos and lack of information. Well, at King's Cross they were giving lots of information - and surely at Peterborough, there are options (go to Cambridge and come in via Cambridge to KGX or Liverpool Street) and I doubt they're just dumping people there!

The caller did say EC were advising people could turn back, so they were given options. Now the BBC reporter is asking why every other country seems to cope.. ARGHHHH! No they don't! They aren't!!

And don't ask about St Pancras; total and utter nightmare.. queuing right through the station and outside, with police managing the crowds and entrances. Following their Twitter feed, it looks like it's only going to get worse...
